Propulsion Steering StabilizingSealing Solutions
CARCOSEAL: the reliable rotary shaft seal for marine applications
Carcoseal is basically made of the following parts:
• an elastomeric lip sliding on the rotary shaft;
• a robust seal back made of fabric rubber, sealing • statically the seal housing;
• a stainless steel spring keeping the lip in contact • with the shaft even at high speed.
Carcoseal is meant to:
• prevent seawater from entering the ship;
• avoid leakage of various lubricants into the sea,
• causing serious pollution.
Different profiles and materials of Carcoseal are available to satisfy the various working conditions:
• rotary or oscillating movement
• full immersion in seawater for many years
• seawater and lubricant pressure
• radial movement of rotary shafts
Since decades CARCO-PRP has been working with most OEMs of ship components for propulsion,
steering and stabilizing:
– azimuth thrusters
– fin stabilizers
– rudders
– steering gears
– propeller shafts
– bearings
– gearboxes
– winches
Today many ships in the worlds are equipped with Carcoseals and our customers trust our expertise.

Maintenance: split seals for fast replacement
Carcoseal is delivered endless for new build but the split version is available in order to avoid costly disassembling of ship components.
CARCO-PRP has developed bonding technologies of split seals for fast replacement on site:
– ISP kit: individual seal gluing
– CSP kit: multiple seal gluing
– VSP kit: multiple seal vulcanization
Accurate bonding instructions and videos are available.
The CARCO-PRP staff can perform training and can bond seals at the shipyards.
